Model Show (Not as Exciting as it Sounds)

Friday we headed to the Toledo “Weak Signals” RC Expo. Interesting stuff, it brought back a lot of good memories of my childhood. We were there to talk to Gary Conley of Conley Precision.

He builds ¼ scale V8 engines that actually work! He even puts them in ¼ scale cars.
Conley engines really work and develop real horsepower. Gary uses a variety of casting and CNC machining tools to build his engines. His engines have real oil pumps and cooling passages in the heads.
The most interesting thing is his gaskets, they are laser cut out of rubber and neoprene. I have got to get one of these laser cutters/printers to make my own gaskets!
Gary’s engines have transmissions that can be shifted into forward, neutral and reverse. Also, he is working on a quick change rear end.
The majority of the show was dedicated to RC airplanes. I was amazed at the level of detail they put into something that can come crashing to the ground.
