Ed Sunkin and myself, the editor of UnderHood Service and Tomorrow’s Technician, attended the Ohio Technical College’s (OTC) NAFTC Day Odyssey and open house today.
The event showcased alternative fuel choices. At the school there was every alternative fuel from home brewed alcohol to butanol and everything in between.
OTC is a member of the National Alternative Fuel Training Consortium (NAFTC). They provide students with an in-depth, 3-month Alternative Fuel Vehicle program designed to cover hybrids, bio-diesel, electric, ethanol, methanol, flex-fuel, compressed natural gas and other alternative fuel vehicles. Students from around the country came to the school today to check out the program and the school.
Touring the school were a lot of parents with perspective students. It was an encouraging sight to see people excited about the automotive industry.
There were also exhibits and representatives from: Jasper Engines and Transmissions (Alternative Fuels , Hickok Inc., Mr. Gasket, Bridgestone/Firestone, BMW, Myers Motor and others.
The highlight for many visitors was the High Performance Shop were dyno tests were performed. The one that had the largest crowd was the Hooters Pro Cup car of A.J. Frank and Bullet Racing.
